On €30,000 a year in bookings, Booking.com takes around €4,500. Every year, and it never gets smaller. Airbnb looks friendlier, but your guests' service fees push up your price and push down your ranking.
A site of your own pays for itself within the first few direct bookings. Returning guests especially love booking direct: they don't need to find you again, just remember your site.

Your calendar reads and shares availability with Airbnb and Booking.com, so you never get double-booked. No need to quit those platforms.

Your site lives at yourname.bouwnb.nl, or on a domain you already own. Your confirmation emails then come from your own address too.
Payment stays between you and your guest
A payment request, a bank transfer, or simply card on arrival: payment goes directly from your guest to you, like a booking that came in by phone. Whatever you're used to keeps working.
That's a matter of principle, not a missing feature. The moment your revenue flowed through our system, a percentage or a per-transaction fee would become almost inevitable, and that's precisely what we wanted rid of. It also means no middleman deciding when you get your money.
Your guests are guests, not data
The big platforms make money on your guests' data. We don't. A bouwnb site has no tracking and no cookie wall: just a calm website, the way websites used to be.
We keep only what's needed to arrange a booking, and two weeks after checkout we erase it. So there's never a guest database for you to secure or account for. Easier on the nerves, and on GDPR.

Your site is online and guests can book. Put the link on your Airbnb profile, your Google profile and your business card.
Bouwnb is young, and we know it
A handful of B&Bs run on bouwnb today, and during this alpha it's free. We build on it every week, so once in a while something breaks; we're honest about that, and quick about it.
